Scriptures and Prayers

One of my favorite things to do is listen to my kids pray. I love to hear the things they need help with, or what is important enough to them to ask Heavenly Father for help. Last night during our scripture reading, my parents came over and were so impressed that the kids sat and listened to Dusty reading the scriptures. Now, we do only read 2 verses a night (thanks to my good friend who gave us that advise - it's about all the kids can focus on right now) :) Jackson talked about Nephi and his father Lehi - he loves to listen to stories about Nephi.

Then it was Bree's turn for family prayer. I was so proud of her. She prayed for Jesus to help our Prophet, President Hinckley, to be okay. And she prayed for everyone to be nice to each other. She also prayed for Cinderella, which is okay because that's what is important to her.

It has been so wonderful to watch how much my kids have grown this past year. I only hope that their thirst for knowledge continues as they grow older...

So, I know this picture has nothing to do with my post...

I just thought it was cute of the kids painting:)

Blue Girl?

You Are A Blue Girl

Relationships and feelings are the most important things to you.
You are empathetic and accepting - and good at avoiding conflict.
If someone close to you is in pain, it makes you hurt as well.
You try to heal the ones you love with your kind and open heart.

Sadness at our house...

President Gordon B. Hinckley
Dusty and I watched the news last night as they paid tribute to our wonderful prophet, President Hinckley. When we heard the news of his passing, we told the kids. We explained that President Hinckley is in Heaven now with Heavenly Father and Jesus. I wish I could see him meet his sweet wife. How amazing that reunion must be:)

As we looked at a few of our friends blogs this morning, Bree kept saying she wanted to look at the pictures of President Hinckley - so I told her we'd add it to our blog so she can look at it anytime she wants. She really loves him, even though she doesn't quite understand what's happening. And, Jack just wants to see him and Jesus. But, we are so thankful that our children knew of our amazing prophet.
I am so thankful for his wonderful example in my life. He was so happy and full of life. I just loved that about him. And, all the jokes he made during his conference talks - I loved his sense of humor. How blessed we are to have had the opportunity to learn from him. We will miss him and his sweet spirit.

I imagine he's running to Marjorie now, Yes running, not waving his cane.

I seem him embracing his father and mother, while they keep repeating his name.

I see him now meeting his forbearers, Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.

Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service, That only such noble men share.

I see him embraced by the Savior, While Father says, "Good and well done.

So faithful and stalwart endurance, I welcome My noble, most excellent son."

I then hear the ripples of laughter, As he says the reception's just fine.

But he hopes that he'll get an assignment or two, Since there's no need to waste any time.

I can hear his clear voice in the stillness, At the close of this sweet Sabbath day.

Have faith and move forward, there's work to be done! President Hinckley would want it that way.

HAPPY!

There is a website (tip junkie) that is holding a contest for the Word of the Year. Well, I thought about that today, and decided if I had to pick a word for this year it would be HAPPY. I truly want to find happiness in all parts of my life. I love being a mom and wife, but I have to admit - 2007 was extremely rough for me. So, I am going to strive to make 2008 a HAPPY one for me and my family.
So, I picked a few things that make me happy...

1. My husband 2. My kids...
3. The Gospel...

4. My color guard girls...
5. My Wonderful Friends...

If you had to choose a word for the year, what would it be?

A Little Crazy...

So, I finally found out how to customize my blog page, and it seems I've gone a bit crazy. I hope it's not too difficult to look at - and don't be surprised if it's completely different tomorrow:) I guess I have nothing better to do.

Catching Up...

So, it has been a bit stressful lately... so, sorry for our absence. I hope everyone is doing well and had a great holiday season. We haven't been too busy around here. Just staying close to home, and cleaning - A LOT!!
But, I just wanted to thank all of our wonderful friends who have been so supportive these past few weeks. I am not sure what I would do without my friends and family. I am thankful for all of you.
Have a great day.
