Disneyland

Our family decided that since we've had a rough few weeks that we could take a trip to Disneyland. We were already half way there for the band show, so we drove the rest of the way Saturday night. We got to Anaheim about 4:30am (poor Dusty) and went to Disneyland Sunday and Monday. The kids LOVED it! We were all exhausted and got pretty ornery at times, but overall it was just what we needed:) Jack's favorite rides were Star Wars, Buzz Lightyear, and Thunder Mountain. Bree loved Dumbo, Nemo, and meeting Tinkerbell. I loved the whole thing and Dusty is still trying to figure out why he was there... :) We also caught up with Pancho and Michael on Sunday for Lunch - it was great seeing them! Pancho is family to us so anytime we can spend time with him we love it. In fact, Jack asked me yesterday if Pancho was my brother!! :)

Anyways, THANKS DUSTY for letting us go. We had a great time.

BOA Regional

This weekend AF Band had State Championships in St. George and then the BOA Regional in Las Vegas. It was a great weekend. The band and color guard took everything at the State Championships, and to all of our surprise, we also won the regional! We were all shocked. It is a great accomplishment for our kids - especially since we are going to the BOA Grand Nationals next month.

After the show on Saturday, my family went to California (see above post). It was a fun weekend.

More Updates (and Stuff...)

It is UEA weekend, and I sure needed a break. I have been going non-stop the past 4 weeks (literally) and yesterday morning I slept in until 10:30. It was lovely! We are going to go to the scarecrow festival tonight with the kids so that should be fun.

Next weekend we will be in St. George for the bands last show until Grand Nationals. We had the BYU show on Tuesday night and it was great. My girls did wonderful and went home with the trophy - hooray. But, it wouldn't have mattered if they didn't take 1st because they had a wonderful show. I was very proud of them.

Jack and Bree are doing great. Jack is loving school - in fact, he doesn't want to leave when we move. So, we will be driving him for at least a few months if not the whole year. Bree loves her preschool and her teacher. She is very organized and great with the kids, which I love. She also loves her new dance class. It cracks me up because it is an intro to dance so they do a little tap in the class - which is completely foreign to me. That's the one thing I've never taught. But, she loves it so it's great.

Dusty is doing good. His work continues to grow all the time. I am so thankful that they treat him so well!! His boss is amazing and so is his family. You don't always get that in a boss. (Well, I guess mine is too... heehee). But, he is a great husband and father and we love him.
Speaking of Dusty, my friend Christy tagged me in a husband tag and I just think I'll do it. So, here goes...

1. Where did you meet your husband? We went to school together, but weren't really friends. In fact, I don't think we ever talked to each other. We started talking the first year I came back to work at AF. Then he asked me out.
2. How long did you date before you married? 9 months.
3. How long have you been married? 5 years December 4th.
4. What does he do that surprises you? Well, right now I love it when he lets me sleep in (on the days I don't have guard) and he gets Jack off to school - it's the BEST!!!
5. What is his favorite feature? His eyes (physical) and his generosity.
6. What is his favorite quality? He is so laid back - it's nice. He never gets mad, NEVER! Which is a good match for me because I can sure make people mad...
7. Does he have a nickname for you? Not really - he just calls me hon.
8. What is his favorite food? I would say Mexican. He served is mission in Mexico, so he really likes authentic Mexican food.
9. What is his favorite sport? Sports? Does he know what that is??? He likes baseball (because of me...) and he'll watch the NBA during playoffs - but that's really all.
10. When & where was your first kiss? It was our 2nd date, and we were 4-wheeling up AF canyon (it was FREEZING). He took me to the top of this really great mountain and - we'll, you get the rest...
11. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Honestly, we like to go to dinner and a movie - we are movie freaks at our house... Our least thing to do on a date is go to Walmart - which is what we always end up doing!
12. Do you have any children? Yes, Jack and Bree. And, one on the way...
13. Does he have any hidden talents? Absolutely!! Dusty is an AMAZING trumpet player. And, he's really good at Disney Scene It (but don't tell him I told you).
14. How old is he? 29
15. Who said I love you first? He did
16. What is his favorite music? He loves Jazz - but he'll listen to anything but country.
17. What do you admire most about him? There is so many... but, I admire that he takes care of his family and loves us unconditionally.
18. What is his favorite color? I am not 100% sure - but, I would say blue.
19. Will he read this? Not unless I tell him to:)

Update

Well, we had a lot going on in September and this month so I guess it's time I updated everyone. I haven't been so good at that!
September 8th was the school carnival at Meadow. The kids had a lot of fun. They loved the big army trucks that were there (Jack accidentally turned one on - oops!!). That sure made him a little worried he would get in trouble - but, I don't think anyone noticed:)

September 20th we celebrated Grandpa Great's 88th birthday. He is sure a wonderful grandpa and I'm so thankful that my kids love and know him. What a great legacy he has set for our family.

Grandpa Great with Jackson

The weekend of the 26th, our great friend Pancho was in town. We had to work hard (Pancho and I), but on Sunday we were able to spend time with him as a family. It was great! My kids love having him here - and, when we move into a bigger home he'll actually have his own room... :)

On the 27th, I had a show up in Logan. It was our first show - so it was pretty rough, but we did a good job. The next weekend, we had a show in Payson and our girls took 1st (along with the band). It was great, and it made their day. I was very proud of them.

And, here is a random picture of Bree coloring with dark glasses on (they are actually 3-D glasses we got at the movie theater). She sure cracks us up!!

Lastly, we sold our house last week - hooray!!! So, we should be out by the end of the month. We put an offer on a new house yesterday and are praying everything goes through - or, we might be scrambling to find another home... But, we feel really good about everything and can't wait to get back to our home town! We will miss our neighborhood so much here though! We've have made the best of friends, but are thankful we won't be too far...

Thank Goodness for Mothers...

As many of you know, I have an amazing mother. I just think I forget to tell her sometimes:)
My mom and I have always had a special relationship... Well, maybe not always - like during my teenage years when I spiked my hair and listened to heavy metal - I am sure I tried her patience just a little back then. But, after I graduated I hit a rough patch and went through some major trials - and she was with me every step of the way. Most of my friends couldn't handle my "disease" and they were soon gone - but mom was always there. I am positive she saved me from death more than once...
Well, nothing has changed. She is such a help to me and my family. We always know we can call her anytime we need help and she'll be right there. And, yes, we probably take that for granted!!! But, I love her so much and am thankful that she is in my life. My kids ADORE her and I am thankful for her example to them.
Thanks Mom for being the best mom a person could have. I love you!
